WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary sophomore Jason Nwosu was named the CAA Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Nwosu was a triple winner at the Dan Stimson Memorial Meet to open the outdoor season last weekend. The Franklinville, N.J., native won the shot put, hammer throw and discus at the event. He posted a career-best 17.20m in the shot put, which ranks fourth in W&M history. The mark ranks first in the CAA, 14th in the NCAA East Region and 34th in the NCAA this season.
Nwosu also recorded a career-best 50.65m in the hammer throw. The effort ranks 16th in W&M history and is the top distance in the CAA this spring.
It marks the second time this season that Nwosu has been honored after he also received the distinction during the indoor season on February 20.
The Tribe returns to action on Friday, March 22, at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond.
