RICHMOND — William & Mary graduate student Alexandre Leblanc was named the CAA Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Tribe to a pair of victories last week.

The award is the second weekly honor for the Tribe this season. Graduate student Satchel Benn and freshman Oliver Hague was named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on Feb. 20.

Leblanc recorded a pair of victories at the No. 1 singles position in the Tribe’s 6-1 wins over Navy and Drexel. He downed Navy’s Sasha Panyan in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, before topping All-CAA First Teamer Alan Jesudason of Drexel, 6-2, 6-4, in the win over Drexel. Leblanc ran his singles ledger to 14-7, including a 6-5 mark at the top spot.

Along with his exploits on the singles court, Leblanc teamed with junior Alexander Karman to record a pair of wins at No. 3 doubles in helping the Tribe to the initial point of the match in both victories last weekend.

W&M, which moved up to No. 71 in the national rankings on Tuesday, travels to Wilmington, N.C., this week for a trio of matches. The Tribe faces Wichita State on Thursday, March 14, at 3:30 p.m. W&M also faces New Mexico (Saturday, March 16, at noon) and UNCW (Sunday, March 17, at noon) on the road trip.
