W&M Moves Up in the ITA National Team Rankings

WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary men’s tennis earned a spot in the ITA National Team Rankings, presented by Tennis-Point, for the fourth-straight week. The Tribe moved up three spots to No. 71 in the poll released on Tuesday.

The Tribe went 2-0 last week, downing Navy and Drexel by matching 6-1 score lines at home to push its season ledger to 7-6. The Dragons, despite the loss, returned to the national rankings one spot behind W&M at No. 72.

The Green and Gold have played a challenging schedule to this point with nine of its 13 matches coming against teams currently ranked in the national top-75. W&M has faced No. 26 Princeton, No. 41 Delaware, No. 46 FAU, No. 48 Old Dominion, No. 55 Yale, No. 69 Monmouth , No. 70 Dartmouth (two times),  and No. 72 Drexel. Along with its victory over the Dragons, the Tribe owns a pair of wins over No. 70 Dartmouth. In total, four CAA teams are in the national top 75.

W&M heads to Wilmington, N.C., this week for a trio of matches. The Tribe faces Wichita State on Thursday, March 14, at 3:30 p.m. W&M also faces New Mexico (Saturday, March 16, at noon) and UNCW (Sunday, March 17, at noon) on the road trip.
