RICHMOND — William & Mary’s Satchel Benn and Oliver Hague garnered CAA Doubles Team of the Week honors after helping the Tribe to a fifth-place showing at the ECAC Championship last week.
It marked the Tribe’s first CAA weekly honor of the year and the first in the careers of Benn and Hague.
The Green and Gold tandem went 3-0 at the ECAC Championship at the No. 2 position. They started the weekend with a 6-4 victory against Yale’s Jim Ji and Eric Li, before topping Brown’s Tim Dzhurinskiy and Sam Feldman, 6-0, to help W&M claim the doubles point in a 4-0. Benn and Hague were part of a crucial doubles point win vs. Dartmouth, beating Ca Guerrero Alvarez and Hikaru Takeda, 6-3, as W&M pulled out a narrow 4-3 team victory.
Benn and Hague own a team-best 8-5 doubles record, including four victories at the No. 2 position.
The Tribe returns to action when it takes on Dartmouth for the second-straight match on Saturday, Feb. 24. The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start time at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
