W&M’s Emily Ervin, Jason Nwosu Earn CAA Athlete of the Week Honors

RICHMOND — William & Mary junior Emily Ervin and sophomore Jason Nwosu were honored by the CAA on Tuesday as Athletes of the Week.

Ervin was named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Nwosu garnered Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors following their performances at the Navy Select on Feb. 16. It marks the second and third weekly CAA awards for the Tribe during the indoor season after freshman Brian Walsh took home the field athlete of the week honor on Jan. 23.

Ervin won the 200m at the Navy Select to wrap up the regular season. The Overland Park, Kan., native ran a season-best time of 24.55, which ranks among the top 10 in the CAA this year.

Nwosu recorded a personal-best mark in the weight throw at the Navy Select to conclude the regular season. The sophomore thrower finished third in the event with a mark of 18.65m (61-02.25). The distance ranks third in the CAA this season and fifth in W&M school history. The Franklinville, N.J., native also placed third in the shot put, recording a mark of 15.58m.

The Tribe kicks off the indoor championship season at the 2024 CAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, Feb. 22, and Friday, Feb. 23. The event will take place at the Nike New York Armory in New York, N.Y.
