WILLIAMSBURG — With the season opener less than two weeks away, three William & Mary men’s gymnastics standouts were selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Preseason Gymnasts to Watch List. Graduate student Aidan Cuy, sophomore Ricky Pizem and freshman Gavin Zborowski garnered the distinction.
A two-time team captain, Cuy returns for his fifth season after winning the 2023 USA Gymnastics Collegiate national title in all-around. Additionally, he earned USAG Collegiate All-America honors on parallel bars, rings and vault at last year’s national championship meet.
One of the ECAC’s top freshmen last season, Pizem was an NCAA Championships Individual Qualifier on vault and high bar during his rookie campaign with the Tribe. Additionally, he was a fixture in W&M’s pommel horse lineup.
Zborowski comes to Williamsburg with high expectations after an outstanding prep career competing for 5280 Gymnastics in Colorado. In addition to placing third on high bar and pommel horse, as well as seventh on rings, in the 2023 Elite Team/Winter Cup Junior Event Finals, he was the 2023 Colorado State Champion in all-around, floor and pommel horse.
W&M will open its season at the West Point Open on Jan. 12-13.
