RICHMOND — William & Mary volleyball sophomore Olivia Esposito was named the CAA co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Esposito led the Tribe to a 3-0 record at the Bucknell Invitational on the way to All-Tournament honors. She shared the award with Delaware’s Asia Murphy.
The Tribe’s middle blocker totaled 21 blocks over her three matches and averaged 1.62 blocks per set. She also hit 41.8% during the week with 30 kills, an average of 2.31 per set.
Esposito opened the week by tallying a career-high 11 kills and adding nine blocks against Old Dominion. The ninth blocks ranked among the top 20 in school history for a four-set match. She followed with 11 kills against Bucknell, while hitting 50%, in a five-set win. She added five blocks against the Bison. Esposito closed out her week with eight kills and seven blocks in the Tribe’s five-set win over Cornell.
The Tribe returns to action at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Ohio University. W&M takes on N.C. State (10:30 a.m.) and UTEP (4 p.m.) on Friday, Sept. 8, before facing the host Bobcats on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m.
