WILLIAMSBURG — Kiskiack Golf Club will be hosting a Johnny Mac Day on July 13 to benefit the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund.

The organization takes inspiration from Col. John “Johnny Mac” McHugh, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving this country. The fund was started in 2014 by members of West Point’s Class of 1986 in memory of their classmate, who was killed in action May 18, 2010 while serving in Afghanistan.

The nonprofit’s mission is to honor military service and sacrifice by providing scholarships to veterans and military family members — particularly the children of soldiers who have fallen or are disabled. The Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is committed to seeing that the children of these soldiers achieve their goals in college education.

Kiskiack Golf Club held a tournament in July of last year for the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and decided to expand it this year to a Johnny Mac Day. Golfers will be to come out to the course that day with a portion of the money the spend going to the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund.

Prizes will be given out based on best gross scores, Flights will be based on the number of participants.

Tee times for this event are all day on July 13 and can be scheduled by calling 757-566-2200. For more information about Kiskiack Golf Club, visit its official website.
