FAIRFAX — William & Mary women’s soccer wrapped up the exhibition portion of its schedule with a 1-1 draw at George Mason on Saturday night.

“It was a great opportunity to try different combinations and deal with a road trip before we open up next week,” head coach Julie Shackford said. “We had some exciting stretches and look forward to being on Albert-Daly for our opener.”

The Tribe put pressure on the Mason goal in the opening 45 minutes, culminating in the match’s first goal with just 11 seconds remaining in the first half. A freshman combo provided the moment of magic as Ivey Crain fed Chloe Ausburn to give the Tribe a 1-0 lead.

In total, the Tribe tallied 10 shots in the opening 45 minutes, including seven on goal. The Green and Gold also recorded three corner kicks.

Mason found the equalizer in the 75th minute to tie the match at one. The Tribe finished with five shots, including three on goal, in the second half, but could not find a second tally.

The Tribe opens up the regular season at home against Virginia Tech on Thursday, Aug. 18. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. from Martin Family Stadium.
