Girls’ soccer roundup: Tyson nets two as Tabb rolls

Leah Tyson scored a pair of goals today as Tabb defeated Poquoson 2-0 on the road.

Tyson netted her first goal of the game in the 35th minute after the Tigers earned a penalty kick. Tyson calmly stepped to the penalty spot and beat the Poquoson goalkeeper.

After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, Tyson put Tabb up 2-0 in the 77th minute off an assist from Gabby Solaroli.

Tabb (13-1) faces a quick turnaround with a road game against Bruton on Tuesday.

York dominates Lakeland

York tied its season-high in scoring today, as the Falcons cruised past Lakeland 8-1 on the road.

The Falcons previously scored eight goals during a shutout victory against Bruton on April 26.

York (10-3) will conclude its regular season Thursday on the road against Jamestown.

Lafayette downs New Kent

Lafayette hit the road today and defeated New Kent by a final of 4-1.

The Rams are hitting their stride at this point in the season, having won five of their last six games.

Lafayette (6-4) will conclude its regular season at home Wednesday against Jamestown.

Grafton blanked by Smithfield

Grafton’s late-season slide continued today, as the Clippers fell 3-0 at home to Smithfield.

With the loss, Grafton has two in a row and seven of its last eight games.

Grafton (4-9) now will prepare for its first game in next week’s Conference 18 tournament.
