Jamestown’s win streak extended to 10 games on Wednesday as the Eagles cruised past New Kent 11-1 at home in five innings because of the Virginia High School League’s 10-run rule.
After allowing a run in the top of the first inning, Jamestown pitcher Garrick Colorado settled down and finished the game with four consecutive shutout innings.
Michael Schmidt tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single.
The Eagles took a 5-1 lead in the second inning as Noah Scruggs and Kent Klyman drove in runs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Schmidt delivered another RBI single, which was followed by a two-run double from Josh Nellis. Later that inning, Nellis scored on a wild pitch.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning, Andrew Barrow drew a walk that gave the Eagles a 10-run lead and ended the game.
Jamestown (11-1) faces a tough rematch on the road against Lafayette on Friday.

Walsingham Routs Hampton Roads Academy
An 11-run seventh inning propelled Walsingham Academy to a 16-0 drubbing of Hampton Roads Academy on the road Wednesday.
Walsingham starting pitcher Jason Covaney went the distance, allowing two hits and striking out six batters in the shutout.
Pacing the Trojans offense was J.J. Burns, who went 4-for-5 with a game-high 6 RBIs. Also contributing was Zach Stanko, who went 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs.
The Trojans held a comfortable 5-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning before blowing the game wide open with 11 runs in the inning.
Walsingham (10-7) will continue its season Thursday with a road game against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
Hampton Road Academy (1-15) will try to rebound Thursday at home against Greenbrier Christian Academy.
