For the second time this season, Lafayette’s indoor track and field team swept a Bay Rivers District meet.
On Tuesday, Lafayette’s girls posted 125 points and barely edged Tabb, which came in second place with 116 points. Grafton took third place with 100 team points.
Tabb’s Maya Hanks was the only female athlete to win multiple individual events on Tuesday, taking first place in the long jump and triple jump.
Three Lafayette girls took first place in individual events as Delaney Savedge won the 1,600-meter run, Brooke Crookston won the 3,200-meter run and Alexis Brender A’ Brandis took first in the 55-meter hurdles.
In the boys competition, Lafayette earned a more comfortable victory with 144 points. New Kent came in second place with 75 points, while Grafton took third with 74 points.
Lafayette’s Michael Tyler won three individual events with wins in the 55-meter hurdles, high jump and triple jump.
Tabb’s Allen Blair also won multiple individual events, placing first in the 300-meter dash and long jump.
