Tabb’s girls cross-country team finished in fifth place during Saturday’s Virginia High School League Group 3A State Cross-Country Championships at Great Meadows in The Plains.
The Tigers finished with 106 team points, which was well behind state champions Blacksburg with 23 points. Warhill finished in 11th place with 256 points.
Lindsey Blanks of Tabb finished in second place overall with a time of 18:40. Her teammate and sister Lauren Blanks took 15th place in a time of 19:25.
Other Tabb scorers were Kasandra Aulenbach in 35th place with a time of 20:43, Kallie Wolf in 40th place in 20:58 and Emma Stephens in 46th place with a time of 21:19.
Warhill was paced by Hannah Hrncir in 12th place with a time of 19:21. Sianna Ferguson finished 63rd with a time of 22:04, while Martina Watson took 68th place in 22:20. Lauren Dansereau was 83rd in 23:27, and Faith Lovell took 88th place in a time of 23:40.
While York’s girls team did not qualify, individual York runners participated in the state meet. Lori Prieto finished 31st in a time of 20:36, while Hannah Johns finished in 76th with a time of 22:48.
In the boys race, Warhill placed the highest among Historic Triangle teams in sixth place with 167 points, which was 107 points behind winners Western Albemarle. Tabb finished in ninth place as a team with 248 points.
Daniel Cretney of Warhill placed 11th in a time of 16:20, while teammate Matthew Hrncir took 23rd in 16:48. Spencer Conti finished 55th in 17:28, Hezekiah Hayes took 62nd in 17:32 and Ruben Davila was 66th in 17:38.
For Tabb, Jacob Kaminer finished 45th in a time of 17:12. Andre Jones was shortly behind in 49th place in 17:18, while Preston Klekar took 54th in 17:22. Erik Platt finished 85th in a time of 18:13, while Phillip Arcara was the last Tabb scorer in 86th place with a time of 18:13.
York’s lone boys runner competing individually, Noah Fields finished 51th in 17:21.

Bruton Girls Take Fifth in Group 2A State Meet
The Bruton girls cross-country team finished in fifth place during Saturday’s Virginia High School League Group 2A State Cross-Country Championships at Great Meadows in The Plains.
Bruton finished with 136 team points, which was well behind state champions Maggie Walker with 30 points.
Leading the way for the Panthers was Clara Wincheski, who finished in sixth place with a time of 19:38. Next for Bruton was Kaitlyn Ardrey in 10th place with a time of 19:52.
Victoria Senn finished in 23rd place with a time of 20:49, while Rachel Brotherton crossed the finish line in 21:04, which was good for 28th place. Zoe Bonafe was the final Bruton scorer in 98th place with a time of 25:21.
While the Bruton boys did not qualify as a team, Curt Ivanoff placed 64th in a time of 18:15.
