Cross-Country: Bruton Girls Take Fourth in 2A East Meet

Bruton’s girls cross-country team took fourth place during Wednesday’s Group 2A East Regional XC Championship at Panorama Farms in Earlysville.

The Bruton girls finished with 136 team points, which was 44 points out of third place and 106 points behind winners Maggie Walker.

Clara Wincheski earned All-Region honors with her fourth-place finish in a time of 19:33. Her teammate Kaitlyn Ardrey took 12th place in a time of 20:42.

Victoria Senn was 17th for Bruton with a time of 21:03, while Rachel Brotherton (21:47) and Zoe Bonafe (26:11) finished 25th and 83rd, respectively.

In the boys race, Bruton finished 11th overall with 252 team points. Similar to the girls race, Maggie Walker took first place with 45 points.

Bruton’s boys were led by Curt Ivanoff, who logged a 19th-place finish in a time of 17:49. Next for Bruton was Garrett Turner in 39th place (18:37) and William Houghland (19:28) in 61st place.

Rounding out the Bruton boys were Ian Sadler in 66th place in a time of 19:42 and Eduardo Baca in 75th place with a time of 20:08.
