The final Bay Rivers District golf match concluded Tuesday afternoon at The Hamptons Golf Course (Par 70) in Hampton.
By the time play ended, New Kent sat atop the overall leaderboard to take the district championship. Jamestown finished 10 total strokes behind the Trojans in second place.
While Jamestown did not take the district title, the Eagles closed their regular season with a win at The Hamptons. Jamestown carded a season-best 299, which beat New Kent by five strokes.
Jamestown also had the individual medalist on Tuesday, as Triston Buckley tied his season-best round with a one-over 71.
Lafayette rounded out the top three teams Tuesday with a season-best 323, clinching a third-place finish in the district. Tabb (330) and Bruton (350) also shot season-best scores.
A number of individual golfers from the Historic Triangle also recorded season-best scores.
Lafayette’s Jacob Smethurst (79), Bruton’s Sam Carr (79), Warhill’s Cole Siegel (82) and York’s James Mollenkamp (79) were just some of the Historic Triangle golfers who shot season-best scores.
With the regular season finished, teams will now prepare for their respective conference tournaments.
Lafayette, Jamestown and Grafton will all compete in the Conference 18 tournament at Williamsburg National Golf Club on Sept. 28. Bruton will play in the Conference 33 tournament at Kiskiack Golf Club on Sept. 30.
Warhill will take part in the Conference 25 tournament Sept. 28 at Royal New Kent. Finally, Tabb and York will play in the Conference 27 tournament on Thursday at Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth.
