
Jamestown’s No. 1 doubles team finished second in the 4A South tournament Wednesday.
Derrick Neilson and Grayson DeBerry were defeated by Midlothian’s top duo of Matthew Cousins and Kael Rison 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in the championship match.
Despite the loss, Neilson and DeBerry will advance to play in the Group 4A state tournament.
Jamestown’s second doubles team of Rohan Kohli and Brad Mahaffey were defeated by Cousins and Rison 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinal.
York Takes Second in Singles, Doubles
York’s doubles pairing of Josh McFadden and Walter Buck lost a hard-fought match in the 3A East quarterfinal against Armstrong’s duo of Lamar Richardson and Yusufu Ibrahim.
After taking the opening set 6-4, McFadden and Buck lost back-to-back 6-4, 6-4 sets to drop the match and end their postseason run.
In singles, McFadden finished as the runner-up to Skyline’s Stephano Tertini, dropping the championship match 6-1, 6-3.
Despite losing, McFadden will still earn a berth to the Group 4A state singles tournament.
