Lafayette, Tabb, York and Walsingham Academy represented the Historic Triangle at the 35th annual Conn-Madden Invitational held at Todd Stadium in Newport News on Friday and Saturday.
In addition to the traditional boys and girls divisions, each had two sub-divisions: A and B.
Division A featured schools with enrollments of 1,000 or more, while Division B featured schools with less than 1,000.
Lafayette’s girls and boys track teams competed strongly in Division A, claiming first and second overall, respectively. Tabb’s boys finished fourth overall with the girls taking seventh.
In Division B, York’s girls and boys finished second and third, respectively. Walsingham Academy finished immediately behind York in both divisions.
The Lafayette girls relays stood out during the meet, earning top-five finishes in the 2×300, 4×200, 4×400 and 1,600-meter sprint medley relay. The Rams won the distance medley, 4×800 and 4×1,600 relays.
Megan Jones of Lafayette won the long jump, while her teammate Alexus Wells finished fourth. Tabb’s Maya Hanks finished fifth.
Hanks took first place in the triple jump, while Lindsey Blanks also contributed points to Tabb by earning first in the 1,600-meter run.
York’s Aundrea Clark finished fifth overall in the girls discus and 11th in the shot put.
Chelsea Marcombe of Walsingham Academy put together a pair of solid finishes, taking sixth overall in the girls shot put and eighth in the high jump.
In the boys competition, York’s Myles Brown claimed first in the long and triple jump.
Two Lafayette boys relays — the 4×1,600 and distance medley — took first place during the meet.
Tabb’s Baron Kieffer won the 1,600-meter run, while teammate Allen Blair took second in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump.
Three Walsingham Academy boys relays — 4×200, 4×400 and 1,600 sprint medley — took home first place.
