Walsingham Academy’s girls basketball team defeated Trinity Episcopal 54-43 to win the Dale Travis Invitational tournament Saturday.
Senior Ashley Barnes knocked down five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 28 points. She was later named the tournament MVP.
Sophomore Stephanie Seaman, who scored 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds, was named to the all-tournament first team.
Walsingham Boys Beat Hosts to Win Tournament Title
Richard Washington scored 28 points to lead Walsingham’s boys past host Trinity Episcopal 62-54 in the championship game of the Dale Travis Invitational on Saturday.
Mark Seaman, who was named tournament MVP, scored 16 points in the win. Kai Brown had 14 points for the Trojans.
Warhill Beats Conference Foe, Improves to 3-0
Warhill’s girls basketball team improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 on the season against Colonial Rivers Conference 25 competition after beating Colonial Heights 45-27 on Saturday.
Kasey Grainer led the way with 15 points, but it was the Lions’ defense, which held Colonial Heights under 10 points each quarter, that highlighted the victory.
Olivia Schulz added nine points and Kieran McClure finished with seven for Warhill.
WCA pulled out a hard-fought 48-44 victory over Kecoughtan in the fourth annual Howard White Showcase tournament Saturday.
Imani Bryant led all scorers with 23 points and Quazia Jones added 14 for the Eagles, who have a tough week ahead with matchups against Atlantic Shores Christian on Tuesday and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on Thursday.
HRA Boys Fall to Trinity Episcopal, Amelia
Bryan Hart scored 22 points for Hampton Roads Academy’s boys basketball team in a 79-68 loss to Trinity Episcopal in the semifinals of the Dale Travis Invitational on Friday.
On Saturday, the Navigators lost to Amelia Academy 82-66 despite 19, 18 and 17 points, respectively, from Chris Leavy, Hart and Anthony Picott.
