For their efforts leading Lafayette’s football team to its second straight unbeaten regular season, Rams quarterback Brendan McGinty and defensive end Matt Hummel have been named the 3A Colonial Rivers Conference 25 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.

Lafayette’s Andy Linn was also named Coach of the Year as the Rams swept top honors on the all-conference team.

McGinty has passed for more than 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns and has another 12 touchdowns and 600-plus yards rushing.

Hummel, who had a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown in the Rams’ 52-6 playoff win over Huguenot last week, leads Lafayette with 10 sacks this year.

Senior Brandon Villanueva-Pernell occupied three of Lafayette’s 13 spots on the all-conference first team. Villanueva-Pernell earned offensive first-team honors as a wide receiver and defensive first-team honors as a defensive back and punt returner.

The entire all-conference team is listed below.
