Most of the spring sports teams at Bruton High, the only local school listed in Class 2A of the Virginia High School League, kick off Conference 33 tournament action today.
The Panthers tennis teams already began competition: the boys lost 5-2 to Maggie Walker in last Thursday’s conference final while the girls advanced to play at Maggie Walker in today’s championship at 4 p.m. to decide a berth to the 2A East Region tournament. Class 2A is the only one of the VHSL’s six classifications that sends one team — instead of two — to regionals from each conference).
