
Katie Slater scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick in extra time to lift Hampton Roads Academy’s girls past rival Walsingham 2-1 at home Thursday.
After Laura Killough scored on an assist from Tess Lawson to give the Navigators a 1-0 lead at the half, Reilly Pieri tied the game for Walsingham in the final minutes of regulation on a feed from Christine McBeath to send the game to overtime.
Both keepers turned in fine efforts in goal, each tallying more than 15 saves.
HRA improved to 2-0 (1-0 Tidewater Conference) on the season with the win while Walsingham fell to 3-4-1 (1-2 TCIS).

Jamestown Boys, Girls Dominate New Kent on the Road
Jamestown’s boys and girls eased their way to 2-0 in Bay Rivers District play with convincing road wins at New Kent on Thursday.
Aaliyah Lyttle and Bailey Cristian scored two goals with one assist apiece for Jamestown’s girls, who led 5-0 at the half and cruised to an 8-0 victory.
The Eagles’ boys team saw eight different players score, led by Brandon Jordan and Kevin Tripp with two goals apiece, as they outscored New Kent 6-1 during the final 40 minutes after taking a 4-0 lead into the intermission to win by a final score of 10-1.

York Boys Pull Away in Second Half to Beat Heritage
After taking a 1-0 lead into the break, York’s boys scored five unanswered goals in the second half to run away from Heritage and earn a 6-0 non-district victory Thursday.
Bailey McClure scored a pair of goals to lead five Falcons players who found the back of the net.
