
The William & Mary women’s gymnastics team claimed a share of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference title as it tied with Brown for the top score at the league’s championship hosted by Temple on Saturday afternoon.
It marks the fifth time W&M has earned the league’s title. The ECAC season awards were also presented Saturday, with W&M sophomore Brittany Stover honored as the league’s Gymnast of the Year. Click here to read more on the victory and to see which other athletes earned season awards.
Landon Funiciello Honored as USA Gymnastics Senior Gymnast of the Year
William & Mary senior Landon Funiciello and sophomore Neal Courter both claimed event titles to highlight a number of impressive performances by Tribe gymnasts in the individual event finals at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships hosted by Navy on Saturday afternoon.
In addition to the pair of titles, five W&M gymnasts combined to earn eight All-America honors. Additionally, Funiciello was chosen as the Senior Gymnast of the Year, while head coach Cliff Gauthier was selected as the Varsity Division Coach of the Year. Click here for details.
Men’s and Women’s Track Win Tribe Invitational
Behind 10 event victories Saturday, the William & Mary men’s outdoor track and field team opened the spring season with a win in the Tribe Invitational.
W&M out-scored George Mason 88-31 in the meet, and also had three IC4A qualifiers and three all-time top marks. Click here for details.
The Tribe women also opened the spring season with a win in their home invitational after notching eight victories en route to scoring 137 points to easily outdistance Richmond (64) and George Mason (49).

Men’s Tennis Finishes the Week 2-1
William & Mary’s men’s tennis team sandwich a 4-1 loss against Dartmouth on Saturday with a pair of 6-1 victories over NJIT on Thursday and James Madison University on Sunday. Click here for details.
Women’s Tennis Edged 4-3 by ODU
William & Mary’s women’s tennis team lost its only match of the week, 4-3 against Old Dominion University in the Optima Health Challenge on Friday.
Baseball
After a narrow loss against Longwood University on Wednesday, William & Mary’s baseball team slugged its way to a pair of 16-4 victories against UMass Lowell on Friday and Brown on Sunday. Click here to read more.
Women’s Lacrosse Falls to 1-7
William & Mary’s women’s lacrosse team dropped a pair of matches this week — 13-4 against Albany on Wednesday and 13-7 against Richmond on Friday to fall to 1-7 on the season. The Tribe will look to get back on track with a pair of tough contests against Longwood today and No. 20 ranked Ohio State University on Saturday.
