Jamestown’s boys soccer team opened its season with a 1-1 tie against former AAA power Maury High on Wednesday night.
The Eagles (0-0-1) got off to a quick start when Brandon Jordan, who led Jamestown with 12 goals last season, found the back of the net off a free kick in the fifth minute.
Jamestown held onto a 1-0 advantage at the half before Maury broke through with the equalizer in the 66th minute.
Making his first career varsity start in goal, Vincent Stumpo finished with four saves for Jamestown, which will take on Kellam on March 27 in Virginia Beach.

Jamestown Girls Blanked by Cape Henry, 2-0
Jamestown’s girls put 10 shots on goal but could not put one in the back of the net as the Eagles fell 2-0 against Cape Henry at Wanner Stadium on Wednesday night.
Aaliyah Lyttle and Juliette Sim split time in goal for the Eagles (0-1-0) and combined for saves. Jamestown returns to the field tonight to take on Kempsville in Virginia Beach.
