Aaliyah Lyttle scored a team-high 14 points while Jamiyah Johnson (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Aine Cannon (11 points, 10 rebounds) added double-double efforts as Jamestown cruised past New Kent, 59-24, at home Thursday. The Eagles (4-7 BRD) led 26-9 at halftime.
Poquoson 49 Bruton 33
After ending the first quarter tied at 13-all, Bruton was outscored 15-0 in the second as Poquoson, led by Sydney Turner’s 11 points, pulled away for a 49-33 road win at Bruton on Thursday. Naya Samuel led the Panthers with nine points in the loss.
Smithfield 57 Tabb 33
Jackie Jordan and Shannon Atkinson scored 17 points apiece as Smithfield (9-2 BRD) defeated host Tabb 57-33 on Thursday to remain in a three-way tie for second place in the district along with Lafayette and Poquoson. Rae-Ana Cain scored 12 points and Imani Jarmon added 11 to lead the Tigers.
