Tabb, Lafayette girls earn Bay Rivers District victories; Barnes’ triple-double lifts Walsingham past Christchurch, and more.

Tabb 41  Jamestown 37

Imani McDowell-Jarmon and Rae Ana-Cain scored 12 points apiece to lead three Tabb players in double figures as the Tigers edged visiting Jamestown at home, 41-37, on Tuesday night. Tabb led 34-25 heading into the fourth before holding off Jamestown’s late rally. Leondra Graves netted 11 points and Aaliyah Lyttle added 10 to lead the Eagles (3-5 BRD). Tabb improved to 5-6 (4-4 BRD) with the victory, marking their fourth straight win against district opponents.

Lafayette 63  Warhill 41

Lafayette used a 26-12 run during the second quarter to pull away from and beat Warhill on the road, 63-41, on Tuesday night. Keyana Brown led the Rams (7-1 BRD) with 24 points, seven steals and six assists, and Tiara Strong added nine points, five rebounds and three blocks. Kasey Grainer scored 12 points to lead Warhill (2-5 BRD), which played without freshman point guard standout Kieran McClure who is out because of a concussion.

Walsingham Academy 52  Christchurch 20

Ashley Barnes recorded her first career triple-double with 23 points, 11 steals and 10 rebounds, as Walsingham jumped out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 52-20 victory Tuesday night. Caroline Boyd added a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double for the Trojans, who improved to 9-4 on the season with the victory.

Nansemond Suffolk Academy 54  Hampton Roads Academy 39

Hampton Roads Academy suffered its second loss in a row with a 54-39 defeat at the hands of Nansemond Suffolk on Tuesday. Braysia Hicks led the team with 12 points, while Rachel Lia and Alyssia Velez added eight apiece for the Trojans, who dropped to 5-4 on the season with the loss.

Williamsburg Christian Academy vs. Alliance Christian

Tuesday’s contest was canceled after Alliance Christian’s school bus had mechanical issues Monday night. The Eagles will return to the court Wednesday to take on Cape Henry Collegiate at home.
