William and Mary men’s basketball coach Tony Shaver announced Tuesday that senior guard Brandon Britt will miss six more games before being eligible to return for the Tribe’s contest against Goucher College on Dec. 20.

Earlier this month, the College announced Britt had been suspended for an indefinite amount of time. That announcement came about two weeks after Britt was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a charge he’ll be tried for in Williamsburg-James City County court at 1 p.m. Jan. 9.

On Tuesday, Shaver defined Britt’s suspension would be nine games, which includes the Tribe’s first three games of the season that Britt missed against Hampton, Liberty and Wichita State.

Without Britt, one of the team’s better defensive players who averaged more than 30 minutes per contest last season and was the Tribe’s third leading scorer at 13.9 points per game, William and Mary is off to a 1-2 start to the season and will play host High Point at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kaplan Arena.
