BASEBALL
Warhill 10 Bruton 0
Blake Otey (3 IP, 1 H, 6 SO) and Blake Wills (3 IP, 0 H, 7 SO) combined to throw a six-inning, one-hit shutout as host Warhill blanked Bruton 10-0. Otey improved to 2-0 on the season with the win. Wills went 2-4 at the plate with two runs-scored against his former team. Jordan Hackney (2-4) added 3 RBI for the Lions, who play unbeaten rival Lafayette (4-0) on Tuesday.
York 16 Smithfield 2
York batted around for 12 runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull away and beat Smithfield 16-2 on the road Friday. Sophomore Eric Harp picked up his first win of the season on the mound for the Falcons (4-0) while Trevor Kelly and Josh Smith combined to go 6-6 at the plate with 7 RBI.
Walsingham Academy 27 Charles City 1
A 14-run third inning highlighted the Trojans’ offensive dominance in their 27-1 rout over Charles City. They notched 16 hits over five innings. Beau LeJeune (2-3) and Alex Brondyke (2-3) each tallied four RBI. Ryan Keating (2-4), who also knocked in a run, led the team in runs scored with four. Pitcher J.J. Burns (1-0) earned the win. The Trojans improve their overall record to 2-1.
Poquoson 7 Jamestown 5
The Eagles took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, but the Islanders tied it in the third then tallied a four-run sixth inning to seal their second win of the season. An RBI double from Trey Hicks sparked the Islanders’ sixth-inning rally, which also featured a sacrifice fly from Michael Nestor and a two-run single from Jeremy Collins. Poquoson’s Zach Dobar earned the win, pitching four strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. Jamestown’s Liam Lowery also had a strong outing on the mound throwing five strikeouts and five hits over five innings. Lowery also shined at the plate, going 4-4 with a double and three singles.

Grafton 31 Lafayette 0
Allison Deaver pitched a five inning no-hitter while striking out seven as Grafton (2-2) climbed back to .500 after an 0-2 start to the season. Christa Hall was a perfect 5-5 at the plate with a home run and 7 RBI while Hannah Olson finished 5-6 with 5 RBI.

Poquoson 5 Jamestown 2
The Islanders snapped a three-game losing streak with 5-2 win over Jamestown. Kelsey Snelgrow went 3-4, including a double, and Hailey Sawyer batted 2-4 to account for five of Poquoson’s 10 hits. Jamestown took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but a scoring rally in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings clinched the win for the Islanders. Pitcher Megan Hibbs notched the win. For Jamestown, Alexis Smith and Courtney Smith each had a solid day at the plate, both going 2-4.
BOYS SOCCER
Grafton 2 Denbigh 2
Michael Trepte and Nick Dey scored a goal apiece as Grafton’s boys played to a 2-2 tie against Denbigh Friday night at Mary Passage Middle School. The Clippers will begin Bay Rivers regular-season play on Monday with a 3-0-1 record.
GIRLS SOCCER
Jamestown 2 First Colonial 1
Jamestown’s Paige Majdic scored both goals, one with an assist from Morgan Connell, to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 win over First Colonial in the Maury Invitation at Powhatan Field. The win improves the Eagles’ record to 4-0. Hannah Sams saved 10 goals in the Eagles’ win. For their next matchup, they will host Tabb at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Wanner Stadium.
