
Williamsburg Christian Academy girls basketball standout Keyana Brown has been recognized on the Virginia Independent Schools all-state first team for the fourth consecutive year after leading the Eagles to their fourth-straight appearance in state championship game earlier this month.
Brown, a junior, led WCA in points (15.3), rebounds (6.7) and steals (3.6) per game in the Eagles’ first season competing in Division 2. They won the school’s first state championship in Division 3 last year when Brown was named state Player of the Year.
Brown’s teammate, junior Jaylnn Ponzo (10.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg), was named second team all-state in Division 2, joining HRA junior Braysia Hicks (15.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and eighth-grader Rachel Lia (15.6 ppg, 2.3 spg) .
In Group AA, Grafton junior Olivia Wilson also repeated as a first team all-state selection in Division 4 after leading the Clippers to Bay Rivers District regular season, tournament and Region I championships before losing in the state quarterfinals for the second year in a row.
Wilson averaged 21 points and close to 9 rebounds per game for the Clippers, who will return their entire starting five next season, including junior Hannah Olson (12.6 ppg, 5.6 apg, 5.2 rpg, 4.4 spg), who received an honorable mention on the all-state team.
