WILLIAMSBURG — An Occasion for the Arts will be back Oct. 6-8, kicking off with the return of the ticketed Evening for the Arts on Oct. 6 with headliners Good Shot Judy.
An Occasion For The Arts (AOFTA) provides Williamsburg with an arts extravaganza which its official website calls the area’s premier art and music festival. The event allows attendees to hear local musicians, check out the Youth Art Show which features students from around the area and see original art.
While there is no charge to attend the outdoor AOFTA festival, running from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8, tickets are needed for the inaugural An Evening for the Arts on Friday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m.
An Evening for the Arts is a fundraiser for the AOFTA Artist in Residence Program benefitting the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools. The program is designed to create a partnership with the schools to place skilled artists in classrooms to enhance art education for students. All proceeds from An Evening for the Arts go toward the program.
The event also allows attendees to shop art before it is available to the public at AOFTA.
“You’re invited to experience a great evening in support of a worthy cause,” said Amy Ahearn, President of the AOFTA Board of Directors. “This will be a relaxing time to shop and mingle with the artists while enjoying fresh local fare and good music.”
