YORKTOWN — Spread holiday cheer at the Yorktown waterfront for the final Yorktown Market Days event of the year.
On Saturday, Dec. 11, Yorktown will host its Mistletoe Market and Toyland Parade. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families with children of all ages are invited to celebrate with this day of free holiday events.
Visitors can shop the market for wreaths, seasonal decorations, food, gift baskets, homemade soaps and candles, gourmet dog treats and other Virginia-made products.
More than a dozen local artist will be selling paintings, jewelry, photography, painted gourds and more.
Also during that time, the York County Historical Museum will present a modern train exhibit inside the Freight Shed, and, for the first time, Yorktown’s trackless train will run from the beginning to the end of the market; giving families a ride on the “Polar Express.”
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., families can learn how to make colonial ornaments with the Watermen’s Museum at the grass area in front of the fountain, along with a live ice carving demonstration until noon.
From noon to 3 p.m., Centerstage Academy will be on the fountain green for a special outdoor holiday performance.
At 1:15 p.m., the community is invited to dress in their holiday best and gather in front of the Freight Shed to march in the 13th Annual Toyland Parade. Led by the Fifes and Drums of Yorktown, the parade will make its way through Riverwalk Landing, stepping off at 1:30 p.m.
