James Warren Atkins, born on October 14, 1949, in Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, in Hampton, Virginia, at the age of 76.
James served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for 22 years, where he earned numerous commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, and the National Defense Service Medal, among others. His commitment to excellence and his exemplary conduct were further recognized with awards such as the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with six oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Reese and Alma Atkins. He leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Atkins, who was his steadfast partner and support throughout his life.
James Warren Atkins will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
