Betty Lou Rodgers Gay, 92, of West Point, VA went to be with the Lord, Wednesday August 27, 2026.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William (Bill) Gay Sr.; her parents Samuel H. Rodgers and Gladys Massey Rodgers; her brother Arnold Rodgers; and her sisters-in-law Polly Guiff and Ruby Wilson.
She is survived by her sister Mary Lee; sisters-in-law Ellen Rodgers, and Nancy Gerould; son W.S. Gay, Jr. (Terry); daughter Tina Stokes (Bobby); four grandchildren Sam (Kelsey), Nicole, Megan (Daniel), and Courtney (Joey); 8 great-grandchildren Colton, Alyssa, Cameron, Kaylee, Jesse, Aria, Jaxon, and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty enjoyed being around her family and friends, loved every visit from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and making sure everyone was taken care of and well fed. She retired after 30 years for C&P Telephone, spending many years as a switchboard operator. Also, retired from First Baptist Church of West Point, VA after 17 years as the office secretary where she gained many friends and acquaintances in Christ. She enjoyed many years singing in the choir and doing solos during church service and several weddings.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at First Baptist Church in West Point, VA followed by a reception of friends and family. Memorials and donations can be made in her name to: First Baptist Church, 414 Main St, West Point, VA 23181.
