Susan Gibbs Fuchs, born on January 11, 1963, in Charleston, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 20, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. At 63 years of age, she left behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration.
A devoted homemaker and mother, Susan dedicated her life to nurturing her family and enriching the lives of those around her. She was a cherished wife to Sidney Fuchs, and a beloved mother to her three sons, William, Robert, and James Fuchs, each of whom carries forward her values and spirit.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in finance from Louisiana State University in 1986, Susan chose to devote herself to her family and community. Her passions included gardening, reading, traveling, and volunteering—activities through which she touched many lives with her warmth and generosity.
A faithful member of St. Bede Catholic Church, Susan also participated in various ladies’ clubs in Ford’s Colony, where she formed deep friendships and contributed to community endeavors. Her volunteer work and commitment to others were celebrated by all who knew her.
Susan was part of a large, loving family and leaves behind her adored mother, June Gibbs; her beloved husband, Sidney Fuchs; their three cherished sons, William (John), Robert (Kathleen), and James (Sydney) Fuchs; and her three sisters, Cindy Patton, Kathleen Archer, and Jennifer Branson. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Lynn Gibbs, whose memory she held dear throughout her life.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Susan will remember her for her unwavering kindness, her limitless patience, and her infectious joy for life. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming, and her heart endlessly giving.
Services to honor Susan’s remarkable life will begin with a visitation and wake at Bucktrout Funeral Home of Williamsburg on September 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church on September 15 at 11:00 a.m.
In this time of mourning, we find solace in the enduring impact of Susan’s life, her vibrant spirit forever imprinted on the hearts of her family and friends. She remains an inspiration to all who knew her, a testament to a life well-lived and a love well-shared.
