Patricia “Patty” Ambrose Clements, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Patty was born in Joliet, Illinois. Her parents relocated to LaPlata, Maryland where she grew up and met her husband, John. After marriage, John and Patty relocated to Newport News where they would plant their roots and raise their children. Patty was a Registered Nurse and retired from Riverside Regional Medical Center.
She loved sports, watching and playing. Patty played tennis in her younger years and golf after retirement. Patty was very active in her community and served in the Women’s Club of Newport News. She also loved her Lord and served in the St Jude Guild at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. She always had a big smile on her face and a hug for those who needed one.
Patty was preceded in death by her father, Albert R. Ambrose; her mother, Coila Jane Ambrose; her sister, Dorothy Jane Mullin; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Hope Clements and her children, Jeff and Kelsey. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Francis Clements; 3 children, Christopher Simms Clements (Nancy), Rebecca “Becky” Clements Zimmermann (Steve) and Erin Frances Clements (David); her grandchildren, Brianna, Lauren, Brett, Kayla, Alijah; her sister, Mary Kimmel and many other in-laws, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at the church with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patty’s name to The Women’s Club of Newport News Nursing Scholarship.
