Jenella Ann Walls, 79, of Charles City, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026. She was born on August 6, 1947, in Little Switzerland, North Carolina, to the late Verdie and Virgil Cox.
Jenella devoted much of her life to serving her community. She retired as Chief Deputy of the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office in New Kent County, where she was respected for her dedication, hard work, and commitment to those she served.
Jenella will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dawn Rash (Cort); granddaughters, Tristin Rash (Jeffrey) and Megan Mayo (Alex); and her beloved great-grandsons, Weston, Jeffrey, and Kane. She is also survived by her sister, Melba Lyons, and her niece and nephew, Marcy (Michael) and VJ (Jamie), along with many other family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Patrick Darlington; her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Walls; her mother, Verdie Cox; and her father, Virgil Cox.
Jenella was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Services will be held at a later date.
