Brenda Fay Slater, born on April 25, 1940, in Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 86.
She found much peace in feeding the wildlife, offering them sustenance with a gentle hand and a kind heart and they always found her. The more the merrier. She loved playing the piano which she passed on to her great granddaughter.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boyd Slater; her parents, Edward Jr. and Edna Danley; and her brother, Edward Danley. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her devoted daughter, Holly Slater, who comforted and cared for her mother over the years. Her daughter remained faithfully by her side with endless patience, kindness, and love. Through every challenge, she was there never wavering, never giving up, and making sure she had everything she needed. She held her hand until the very end, a beautiful reflection of a daughter’s unconditional love.
Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, James Kishlicky (Kassie) and Shanda Madriaga (Francis), who brought her immense pride and joy, and her great-grandchildren, Luke, Addison, and Jeremiah, who brightened her days with their laughter and love. Brenda will also be fondly remembered by her niece, Laura Danley, and nephew, Mark Danley, along with many friends and extended family members.
A graveside service to honor Brenda’s life will be held at Williamsburg Memorial Park Cemetery Tuesday, August 18th, at 10am.
