Susan Lynn Harmon, 67, of Williamsburg VA, passed away on July 24, 2026, after a sudden illness. Born in Nassau County, New York on May 14, 1959, she is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Betty Anne Maurer, as well as her very special grandmother, “Nan” Jessie Scott.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in marine biology from Southampton College. While there she worked at the Plum Island Research facility in the 1980’s. Susan loved animals of all kinds – even raccoons and possums – but she was especially fond of her cats, giving homes to many throughout her life. She was a member of Williamsburg Church of Christ. Her hobbies included computer gaming, especially with the Hatchlings Community.
Above all else, Susan adored her husband, the great love of her life, and spending time with her family, especially joking around with her cousins’ children. She will be missed by her loving husband, Harold Hager Harmon, Jr. and her beloved pets, Rosie, Pounce, and Chase; her brother, Scott Maurer, his wife Barbara and Susan’s nephews Zachary and Daniel; Aunt Audrey and Uncle Bob, cousins Barbara, Bill and Steve, their spouses, and first cousins once removed; Kevin, Eric, Tim, Christian, Nicky, Will, Nicole and Mike.
