Charles Frederick “Fred” Hogge, born March 30, 1926, went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2026. He lived an amazing 100 years enjoying his family, friends and hunting with his many friends.
Fred was a member of Poroporone Baptist Church and was proud to be the longest living member. A title he shared with his mother. Fred retired from Chesapeake Corporation in 1986. After retiring he enjoyed going to listen to bluegrass music, working on lawnmowers and enjoyed time with family. His passion during retirement was serving Lower King & Queen Fire Department.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Bessie Hogge; his wife of 46 years, Fannie and his second wife of 26 years, Pauline; brothers, Eugene “Buster” Hogge and John Hogge; sisters Grace Bernoski, Marion Thrift, Agnes Johnson, Olivia Daniels and Frances Hogge.
He is survived by a daughter, Kay Carter (Robbie) and a stepdaughter, Pat Gwaltney (Billy); grandchildren, Lisa Gwaltney, Mike Gwaltney (Carrie), Jennifer Ronk (Johnny) and Angela Morris (Travis); great-grandchildren, Samantha Ronk, Alayne Gwaltney, Kaylee, Kelsey and Karlie Morris; great-great grandchildren, Meisyn and Miles.
A special thanks to his care givers, Jennifer, Tina, Sandy, Brenda, Danita and Lisa.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. August 1st at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. Interment will follow in Poroporone Baptist Church Cemetery.
