Billy D. Ford passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on November 13, 1939, Billy lived a life marked by service, both to his country and his community.
Billy proudly served in both the Air Force and the Army, dedicating many years to defending his nation. He was a Vietnam War veteran and carried the values of duty and honor throughout his life. After his military service, Billy continued to contribute to the community as an HVAC/R mechanic at the Newport News Shipyard, where he was known for his hard work and reliability.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie E. Ford; his son, Edward W. Jahn; his grandson, John Lane; and his granddaughter, Samantha Lane. His memory will be cherished by his surviving family, including his daughters, Theresa (Archie) Roberts, Liza Sizemore Heal, and Jean Ford Hathcock; his sons, Robert (Jane) Jahn and Mickey Sizemore; and his special friends, Henry and Gail Harris; and his daughter-in-law, Ruth Harris-Jahn.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel, located at 12893 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23608.
Billy will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and country. His legacy of service and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
