Katherine “Kay” Charlene Worster passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2026, in her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Born on March 4, 1954, in Bancroft, Maine, Kay was the daughter of Donald and Evelyn Irish. She married the love of her life, Vance Worster, on September 14, 1971.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Vance; parents, Donald and Evelyn; sisters, Jeanette and Ethel; and brothers, Manley and John.
She is survived by her son, Dean, and his wife, Nora; sisters, Beverly and Donna; grandson, Daniel (and his wife, Kellie); granddaughter, Mackenzie; great grandchildren, Kayce, Kennedy, Kyler and extended family. Kay cherished her family and friends deeply, as she loved being a Meme.
Kay was known for her love of bingo, chocolate M&Ms, her cats, and the people she held close. Her love and service for others extended from her family to her friends. She brought her warm smile and contagious laugh to every room she entered. Her kindness and positive presence will be remembered by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, located at 5033 Rouse Drive in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at 3:00 p.m., with a small reception to follow.
For those who are unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed here.
As per her wishes, her ashes will be placed beside the love of her life at a later date.
Kay’s legacy lives on in the family she adored and shared so generously with everyone she met.
