Rachel Marie Parrott-Greenhow, 58, entered eternal rest on June 14, 2026. Born on March 18, 1968, in Richmond, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of Katherlyn L. Parrott and the late Eli Canady.
Rachel’s life was defined by her love for family, her faith, her resilience, and her ability to bring joy to those around her. She attended James Blair Middle School and Lafayette High School, where she excelled as a track athlete and was known for her remarkable speed. She later earned her GED, demonstrating the determination and perseverance that would characterize her life.
At the age of eighteen, Rachel married Maurice Greenhow Sr. Together, they welcomed ten children into the world. Rachel was a devoted mother, and her children were the pride and joy of her life. She dedicated much of her time to nurturing, guiding, and loving her family, a role she cherished above all else. Faith was at the center of Rachel’s home. She rooted her children in Christianity and love, teaching them to trust God, care for one another, and persevere through life’s challenges.
During her children’s early years, Rachel was actively involved in church life, faithfully attending worship services, choir rehearsals, Bible studies, and church activities. She especially enjoyed participating in Rainbow Rallies and serving wherever she was needed. Even as life took her in different directions, Rachel never lost her heart for ministry. She continued to encourage others, share her faith, and offer comfort and support to those around her.
Rachel later worked as a Store Manager for McDonald’s, where she was known for her outstanding customer service, strong work ethic, infectious smile, and contagious laughter. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcomed and appreciated. Whether through a kind word, a shared laugh, or a listening ear, Rachel left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Throughout her life, Rachel faced many challenges and experienced hardships that would have been difficult for most people to overcome. Yet through every season, she continued to press forward with determination, grace, and an unwavering love for her family. Her resilience, strength, and ability to persevere through life’s trials became a testimony to those who knew her. Rachel’s life was a reflection of faith, endurance, compassion, and the power of never giving up.
Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Eli Canady; her children, Sherice Greenhow, Marquis Greenhow, and Tiffany Greenhow; and her brother, Brian Canady.
