With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved friend and family member Sherry Hudgins-Wheless, who passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the age of 58.
A life-long resident of Grafton, Virginia, Sherry worked at Riverside Regional Medical Center for 25 years and in the restaurant industry since she was 14 years old. She had so many friends, making meaningful friendships with everyone she met.
She loved the beaches, especially the Outer Banks in North Carolina and the Keys in Florida. She also loved gardening, having a green thumb growing all sorts of plants and flowers, her favorite being the sunflower. She loved hummingbirds. Every time she saw them, she smiled as if it was the first time she ever saw one. She dearly loved dogs, but especially her precious Yorkie, Ava Sunshine.
She is preceded in death by her father Joseph Hudgins, mother Gladys Hudgins, brother Joseph Hudgins, Jr., brother George (Bubba) Hudgins, and sister-in-law Kimberly Hudgins.
She is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Ronald Wheless (Big Sid), nieces, Alicia Hudgins and Melissa Hudgins, her great nephews Riley Moore and Eli (Jaxson) Carr.
Services will be held at Amory Funeral Home located at 410 Grafton Drive on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 2, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Fleet Reserve Association located at 400 Old York-Hampton Hwy in Yorktown, Virginia.
