Mrs. Angelina Elsie Grados (“Angela”), a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on June 15, 2026, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach. She was 78 years old.
Angela was born on January 17, 1948, in New York City to Oreste and Margaret Ursillo. She was raised in New Jersey, where she met her late husband, Cesar. In the late 1980s, Angela and Cesar moved to Virginia Beach, where they built a home and raised their family.
A true coffee connoisseur, Angela loved sitting outside coffee shops, people-watching, and enjoying the world around her. To know Angela was to know a unique and kind soul, always willing to help, whether by offering a ride to a friend or preparing a hot meal for anyone who dared mention they were hungry.
Food was Angela’s love language. She could remember, in vivid detail, how delicious a cake was from a birthday ten years earlier. As a homemaker, she had a gift for making a meal appear in five minutes and always made sure a hot meal was on the table for her husband and children. In Angela’s mind, hunger was an emergency.
Beyond her love of food, coffee, and family, Angela was an avid reader, poet, and collector of books. When the mood struck, she could recite a poem she had made up on the spot, and those lucky enough might receive one from her in a letter.
Angela is survived by her four children, Judy, Selena, Cesar, and Anthony; her sisters, Catherine and Celeste; her brother, William; and her four grandchildren, Jake, Abigail, Ryan, and Teddy.
Known lovingly by her children as “our szweet mother bear,” her kids will miss her phone calls, coffee chats, generous heart, and delicious lasagna. Angela enjoyed life, her family and friends. Always the rebel, Angela left on her own terms, as she wished. Her warmth, humor, and kindness will remain with all who loved her.
