Samuel Wesley “Wes” Harrison, 64, passed away peacefully at his residence in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on June 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 11, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia, Wes lived a life devoted to family, friends, and those he loved.
Wes was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He dedicated much of his life to a career on the road, working as a Class A CDL driver in long-haul trucking, and later as a driver for Land & Coates Landscaping. His work allowed him to traverse the country, but his heart always remained close to home.
A devoted fan of the Washington Redskins, Wes proudly displayed his extensive collection of memorabilia throughout his home. He had a deep admiration for bald eagles, collecting various representations of these majestic birds. Sundays were cherished times for Wes, as he and his beloved wife, Margie, would visit their grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each visit. Together, they shared a passion for NASCAR, attending races annually in Dover, Delaware, and at the Richmond Raceway. Wes also found joy in camping, embracing the tranquility of the great outdoors.
Wes occasionally attended services at London Bridge Baptist Church with his family. He also regularly attended his own in-home church service virtually with Hons Hess.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Burke Harrison and Birdie Alma Harrison (née Shelton).
Wes leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his cherished spouse of 15 years, Margaret “Margie” Schindler, of the home; his children, Michael Shaw (Crystal Shaw) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Courtney Solomon of Virginia Beach; and his adored grandchildren, Kyler Solomon, Aiden Solomon, and Charlotte Shaw. Wes’s faithful companion, his 9-year-old cat Timmy, will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Wes’s life will be held at a later date among family and friends. Those wishing to honor his memory may offer condolences here.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
