Edgar Roberto Serra Semidei, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia, surrounded by his family. Born on August 24, 1946, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he lived a life full of purpose and dedication, reaching the age of 79.
After completing medical school in Spain, Edgar devoted his life to the art and science of healing as a General Surgeon. He was deeply passionate about his work and continued to serve with unwavering commitment until his retirement at the age of 75. His influence extended beyond his own practice, inspiring countless young surgeons who followed in his footsteps. In his early career, Edgar was a proud member of the Surgeon’s Group of Puerto Rico, where he built lasting relationships and contributed significantly to the medical community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Edgar found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved sailing the open waters and, more importantly, cherished every moment spent with his beloved family. His humility and grace earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him, from his family to his peers and the wider community. Never one to seek the spotlight, Edgar appreciated the simple things in life, finding contentment in the love and companionship of those he held dear.
Edgar is preceded in death by his parents, Roberto and Clara, and his sister, Vivian. He leaves behind a loving family: his devoted wife, Ana; his son, Edgar, and daughter-in-law, Keila, whom he loved like his own daughter; his treasured grandchildren, Mia and Edgar; his sister, Eileen, and brother, Alberto. Each of them carries forward his legacy of kindness, wisdom, and integrity.
Services will honor Edgar’s wishes to return to his homeland, where he will be laid to rest in Puerto Rico, surrounded by the natural beauty and warmth he always held close to his heart.
He is loved and will be terribly missed by his family and friends. Edgar’s legacy is a profound one, leaving us with many gems of wisdom and love that will guide us for the rest of our days. His spirit will forever sail alongside us, reminding us to live with passion, humility, and a deep appreciation for life’s simplest treasures.
