Glenn Eric Jones, Sr., a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and faithful friend, passed away on April 17, 2026, in Houston, TX, at the age of 64. Glenn was born on February 27, 1962, to Wilbert and Barbara Jones in Williamsburg, Virginia.
At an early age, he joined St. John Baptist Church, where his faith foundation was established and remained an important part of his life.
Glenn was a devoted father who adored his children, Glenn Eric Jones, Jr. and Madison Taylor Jones. He took great pride in sharing stories of their adventures and was intentional about exposing them to new places, experiences, and the richness of the world. His love for them was the center of his life.
A proud graduate of Lafayette High School, Glenn earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampton University. While still a student, he began his broadcast journalism career at WTKR-TV in Norfolk, Virginia.
He went on to hold producer and executive producer positions at WPEC-TV, WESH-TV, and WSOC-TV, where he developed a reputation as a skilled newsroom leader with a sharp editorial voice. In his senior leadership roles with ABC News and Hearst Television, he guided teams through major national and global news coverage with integrity and precision.
In the next chapter of his career, Glenn transitioned into corporate communications, applying his storytelling expertise across the energy, technology, and workplace safety sectors. As Communications Director at futureAlign Incorporated, and Marketing and Communications Director at Rajant Corporation, he elevated global brand visibility, led media strategies, and built strong industry partnerships. Through The Jones Group and as Principal and Senior Visual Storyteller of the GDJ Collective, he provided trusted counsel to senior leaders and delivered impactful, result-driven communications.
His professional excellence was recognized with numerous honors, including a National Headliner Award, three Emmy Awards, three Edward R. Murrow Awards, and seven Associated Press Awards.
Glenn was a proud life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he formed lifelong friendships and maintained strong bonds of brotherhood.
Glenn was a man of curiosity, culture, and passion. He loved traveling the world, capturing life through photography, and immersing himself in music, especially jazz. He enjoyed quiet evenings listening to artists such as Pat Metheny, The Rippingtons, and Earth, Wind & Fire, as well as reading James Bond novels or watching Star Trek. He also found joy in collecting and restoring automobiles. Glenn had a true green thumb and loved surrounding himself with plants, bringing life and beauty into every space he called home.
His love for storytelling extended beyond his profession. Through his blog, “The Accidental Tourist,” he chronicled his travels with breathtaking photography and a narrative style that reflected his wit, insight, and unique perspective.
He is survived by his parents, Wilbert and Barbara Jones; beloved children, Glenn Eric Jones, Jr., and Madison Taylor Jones; his sister, Dorenda Edwards (Ronnie); his nephews, Doron Edwards and Quincy Edwards (Chantel); devoted partner in love, Greta Bellinger; his aunts and uncle; and a wide circle of extended family, friends, colleagues, and fraternity brothers.
Glenn’s legacy lives on through the stories he told, the lives he touched, and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered
A memorial service honoring Glenn’s life will be held at Noon on May 30, 2026, at St. John Baptist Church,1397 Penniman Road, Williamsburg, Virginia, 23185.
