Terence James Kennedy, 71, of Newport News, VA, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Born in St. Louis to Thomas and Shirley Kennedy, Terence had been a Peninsula resident since the 1960s. He was a dedicated and hard-working individual who worked as a Pipefitter at the Newport News Shipyard for over 40 years. His long career at the Shipyard demonstrated not only his skill and commitment but also the strong bonds he formed while there. “KenKen”, as his coworkers often referred to him, viewed the shipyard as his extended family.
Terence loved cooking and often shared food and recipes with his coworkers. Working at Farm Fresh in Poquoson as a second job, also reflected his strong work ethic and connection to his community.
Terence was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Christina. He leaves behind his sister, Mary; several brothers; and his nieces and nephews.
