Charles Cicero Gillikin, Sr., a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia. Born on January 26, 1946, in North Carolina, Charles lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 80.
Charles dedicated many years to his work as an Inspector for the City of Chesapeake, where he was respected for his diligence and integrity. Outside of his professional life, he found great joy in the simple pleasures: spending time with his family, drawing, and fishing. These passions brought him peace and contentment, and he shared them generously with those he loved.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cecilia Grace Hobson Gillikin; his father, Cicera Gillikin; and his mother, Alva Gillikin. Their memories were cherished deeply in his heart.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy. He is survived by his children: daughter, Tina M. Nelson and her husband Chris Timchak; daughter, Tammy M. Gillikin-Hall and her husband Keith; son, Charles Gillikin, Jr. and his wife Allison; son, Michael Shawn Gillikin and his wife April; and daughter, Angelia Cecilia Gillikin-Riddick and her husband Jake. Charles was a devoted grandfather to grandchildren: Jake, Eric, Morgan, Taylor, Ashley, Adam, Sara, Stephanie, Kyle, Christopher, Chase, Shawn, Kayla, and Ethan. He also had a special place in his heart for his 14 great-grandchildren.
Charles’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his journey.
