Douglas Allen “Doug” Howard, born on February 22, 1951, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Jason Barnette Howard and Edith Earline Weaver-Howard, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026.
Doug was a man who valued family, friendship, and the simple moments in life. A skilled mechanic by trade, he had a lifelong passion for building race cars and could often be found enjoying NASCAR races on Sunday. His love for engines and racing was more than a hobby-it was a reflection of his dedication, craftsmanship, and appreciation for hard work.
Since 1992, Doug made his home in New Kent County, Virginia, where he built a life rooted in community and connection. His wife, Peggy, who preceded him in death on November 12, 2023. Together, they built a life centered on care, resilience, and devotion.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Angela Lynn Puckett; his sister, Rose Marie Brown and her husband, Jesse; his grandchildren, April Dawn Revels (Benton Hodges) and Cheyenne Puckett; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden Puckett, Nevaeh Puckett, Andrew Puckett, and Mallory Revels. Doug also leaves behind many special friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and presence.
Doug’s legacy is one of quiet strength, enduring love for his family, and the meaningful connections he formed throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Virginia 23140.
