John W. Williams born October 18, 1952 passed away April 27, 2026 at age 73. He was born in Greenville, Mississippi.
He graduated from Greenville High School and attended Jackson State University on a football scholarship. After graduating from college, he joined the Navy where he met his best friend and brother Ray Bookman. They remained brothers for 40+ years. After the Navy, he began a career as an Electrical Engineer and retired in this field.
John was predeceased by his mother, Roberta and sisters Marie and Christine of Mississippi.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 40 years Sylvia A. Williams of Norfolk, VA, daughters Paulette Piggie and Sylvia R. “Robbie” Williams, brother-in-law Charles E. Hinton, sister-in-law Lucille Chambers, brother and sister in Christ, Ray and Debbie Bookman, one granddaughter, Jasmine Piggie and grandson Jaylon Piggie and two great grandaughters, niece Roberta “Pooh”, nephews Mark and Fitzgerald and his great nieces and nephews.
